What will you do as a Technology Architect?

As a Technology Architect you will have a key role within Technology and Engineering and complement Marketing and Sales in promoting Frencken’s value proposition towards its customers.

You will focus on increasing our knowledge base relating to understanding technologies, products and roadmaps of our key customers. Based on insight and deep understanding of Frenken’s own technologies and core competencies you will be able to translate customer needs into requirements and technology solutions. In addition, you are expected to design and propose a high-level structure or approach for these new solutions.

Further activities and responsibilities within this job are:

  • Managing and continuously improving the process of maintaining Frencken’s Technology Roadmap with focus on customer needs and their roadmaps;
  • Building and maintaining a broad network of key industry and academic contacts;
  • Identifying emerging technologies that need to be considered for use in engineering and manufacturing;
  • In collaboration with sales propose, develop and follow up on new business opportunities in current markets as well as potential new markets;
  • Work with Sales, New Product Creation and Engineering departments in setting strategies and tactics to enable us to address new business opportunities and also initiate and implement supporting activities;
  • Pro-actively propose and initiate options for value engineering for existing products;
  • Support engineers, architects and different Frencken units (Netherlands, USA, Asia) in meeting customer requirements in complex technical projects;
  • Propose, lead and/or participate in innovation projects to enhance our key technology competencies.

What does a Technology Architect need to have?

Obviously you need have a profound interest in new and emerging technologies and their deployment. You also have excellent communication skills in both English and Dutch (both required)

Furthermore you need:

  • A MSc or PhD degree in physics or mechanical engineering, innovation management or comparable fields;
  • A proven track record in development and engineering in the High Tech B2B industry;
  • At least 5 years of experience in business/sales support or (contributing to) strategic planning, including communication with customers;
  • Knowledge of and experience with project definitions and NPI (New Product Introduction) processes
  • The ability to prepare a business case and understanding of budgets and financial and business reporting.
  • Experience in the semiconductor, analytical or medical equipment industry is preferred as these are key customer market segments for Frencken.
