Category Buyer – 4 new positions at Frencken!

What is your role?

Category Buyer is being sought to help the team transition from tactical to strategic level, to drastically professionalize. The right candidate has the motivation and potential to grow into a higher management position in the long term.

You are ultimately responsible for one of the four categories:

• Category in the field of milling/ machining

• Category of raw material, surface treatment and semi-finished goods meaning casting, forcing, 3d printing

• Category in the field of hosing, packaging, plastics, pneumatics, sealing, trade, vacuum

• Category in the field of bearing and guiding, breaks and clutches, gearboxes, magnetics, motor, sticker/labeling.

• It is up to you to strategically elevate procurement through a well-thought-out long-term category plan, provide direction, and stimulate proactivity.

• You maintain strategic contacts with suppliers regarding contract terms, prices, volumes, lead times, and warranty conditions (QLTC).

• To achieve the right cost savings, knowledge of the category is required, and you closely monitor market developments.

• Close collaboration is maintained with, among others, production. You improve cooperation with internal stakeholders.

• You are the first point of contact from procurement and internally, you regularly consult with your colleagues Buyers. Additionally, you are the point of contact in case of escalations related to delivery problems or issues with suppliers.

• You are the the link between different departments, communicate clearly, with the right sense of proportion, and take responsibility for the creation and execution of your category strategy.

Who are you?

Frencken is looking for a strong personality who brings something extra to the organization. You initiate improvement proposals to make the category strategy work more efficiently as a whole and take the lead in implementation.

For this role, you need to possess the following qualities:

• You have at least a completed HBO (Higher Professional Education) degree.

• You have extensive experience in procurement at the level of category management, within a technical environment.

• You are familiar with the 'make/buy-policy' and its execution.

• You have a proven track record in cost reduction and quality improvement programs.

• Solid knowledge of cost drivers within the assigned category.

• Extensive knowledge of legal and risk management regarding contract negotiations.

• You are communicatively skilled, organizationally sensitive, and assertive, able to remove resistance and improve relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, and you speak fluent Dutch

• You are motivated, involved, decisive, and proactive.

• You are analytically strong and able to make good assessments.
